Ugandan army chief Muhuzi Kainerugaba has said he wants to behead his country's well-known opposition leader, Bobby Wine.

Muhuzi, the son of Uganda's long-time president Yoweri Museveni, made the threat in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) last Sunday.

Museveni has been ruling Uganda since 1986. It is believed that Museveni's son Muhuzi will succeed him as president of Uganda.

Muhuji often posts controversially on social media. For example, in 2022, he posted a post threatening to invade neighboring Kenya. However, he later apologized for making the threat.

In a post on X last Sunday, Muhuji said that his father is the only person who is protecting opposition leader Bobby from him (Muhuji).

Muhuji wrote that if his father weren't there, he would have cut off Bobby's head right now.

Bobby is quite popular in Uganda. His real name is Robert Kyagulani. He has several identities. He is a pop star, actor, and lawyer.

Bobby ran against Museveni in the presidential election in 2021. He came in second.

By saying this, Muhuzi is hinting that the Museveni government had 'bought' Bobby with money in the past to weaken Uganda's opposition.

Reuters tried to contact a Ugandan government spokesman about Muhuzi's post, as well as a spokesman for army chief Muhuzi, but there was no immediate response from either side.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for the Ugandan armed forces declined to comment on the matter.

Bobby X has responded to the beheading threat. In a post, Bobby said he did not take the threat lightly. He mentioned that there have been several attempts on his life in the past.

In response to Bobby's post, Muhuji wrote, 'Finally! I was able to wake you up? Pay off the debt we gave you before we behead you.'
