Many residents of neighboring Canada want their country to become the 51st state of the United States. If Canada were to merge with the United States, the country would not have to pay any trade tariffs and would also have lower taxes. US President-elect Donald Trump made the remarks on his social media account Truth Social, after Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as Canadian Prime Minister on Monday.

Trudeau's popularity in Canada has plummeted due to various reasons, including politics and economics. Amid the country's economic turmoil, Trump recently announced that he would impose a 25 percent tariff on goods imported from Canada after taking office on January 20.

Donald Trump mocked Trudeau after he announced his resignation yesterday amid political turmoil. He wrote on Truth Social, "Many people in Canada want to be the 51st state of the United States. The United States can no longer afford the huge trade deficit between the United States and Canada and the subsidies that Canada needs to survive. Justin Trudeau knew this, which is why he resigned."

Trump mentioned in the post that Canada would get various benefits if it were to merge with the United States. He said that if Canada were to merge with the United States, the amount of tariffs would be reduced. Taxes would also be reduced.

In addition, Russian and Chinese ships are constantly surrounding Canada. Ottawa will be safe from these threats from the two countries. The United States and Canada will be a great country together.

After nine years of leading Canada, Trudeau announced that he would step down as leader of his own Liberal Party in the face of dissatisfaction. According to his announcement, Trudeau will remain as prime minister until the Liberal Party chooses a new leader. The date for the election of a new leader will be determined by the party.
