Five journalists were killed in an Israeli airstrike near a hospital in the central Gaza Strip, Palestinian authorities and media reported.

The five journalists, who worked for the Palestinian Al-Quds Today channel, were covering a program at Al-Awda Hospital, located near the Nuseirat refugee camp when their broadcast vehicle was targeted by Israeli airstrikes.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Anas Al-Sharif reported this information on Thursday morning. A video footage of the attack showed the vehicle carrying five journalists on fire. The white vehicle had the word "Press" written in large red letters.

The journalists killed were Fadi Hassouna, Ibrahim Al-Sheikh Ali, Mohammed Al-Ladah, Faisal Abu Al-Kumsan and Ayman Al-Jadi.

Al Jazeera's Anas Al-Sharif said that the wife of the deceased Ayman Al-Jadi gave birth to their first child at Al-Awda Hospital. He was waiting outside the hospital for his wife and child.

There was no immediate reaction from the Israeli military to the attack that killed five journalists.

Israel began its indiscriminate attacks on Gaza on October 7 last year. Since then, at least 141 journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks, according to the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an organization working on the rights of journalists around the world.
