Princess Kate Middleton has emphasized the importance of working with empathy and compassion to build a healthier and happier society. In her first public message since returning to royal duties following cancer treatment, the Princess of Wales highlighted the need for greater social and emotional development.
In a foreword for a report published Sunday by the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, Kate underscored the significance of emotional well-being. She launched the center in 2021 to promote early childhood development and its role in shaping society.
Kate stressed the need for long-term solutions to address poor mental health, addiction, and abuse.
“We must embrace new beginnings, recovery, and rebalancing. That means taking a deeper look at our behaviors, emotions, and feelings,” she wrote.
As the wife of Prince William, heir to the British throne, Kate has been actively involved in advocating for mental health and childhood development.
“We need to be better at showing empathy and compassion toward one another, fostering meaningful and lasting relationships,” she added.
“At the core of everything lies the development and nurturing of our social and emotional skills. If we want to thrive, we must prioritize them.”
Kate is gradually resuming her royal duties after completing a course of preventive chemotherapy for cancer. Last week, she attended two official engagements, marking her return to public life.
The princess underwent major abdominal surgery in January last year, which led to her cancer diagnosis. Following medical evaluations, she was given preventive chemotherapy. Her illness was a significant blow to the British royal family, as King Charles III was also battling cancer.
Prince William previously acknowledged that 2024 has been an incredibly challenging year for the royal family.
