Fires were burning in five areas in Los Angeles, USA, as of 4 am local time on Thursday. More than 137,000 people have fled their homes. At least five people have died as of the last report. Many more have been injured.
According to the latest reports, the largest fire is burning in the Palisades area. The second largest fire is burning in the Eaton area. Fires are also still burning in the Sunset, Hearst, and Lydia areas.
About 17,234 acres of land have burned in Palisades. The fire in this area is not yet under control. About 10,600 acres of land have burned in Eaton. The fire is still under control here. About 855 acres of land have burned in Hurst. The fire is 10 percent contained. About 348 acres of land have burned in Lydia. The fire is 40 percent contained. About 43 acres have burned in Sunset. The fire in this area is not fully contained.

Strong winds and dry weather have made it difficult to control the fire, with a fire chief telling the BBC that there is "no chance" of bringing it under control.
President Joe Biden has canceled a trip to Italy to oversee the firefighting efforts.
Thousands of displaced people are anxiously waiting to see if their homes have been spared from the fire. Satellite images show the extent of the devastation.
