Donald Trump has arrived in Washington, D.C. where he will be sworn in on January 20. Trump has announced plans to sign a record number of executive orders on the same day after being sworn in as the new president of the United States.
A US Air Force plane carrying Trump, his wife Melania, and other members of the Trump family arrived at Dallas International Airport on Saturday local time.
From there, Trump will travel with his family to his golf club in Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Trump's inauguration will begin with fireworks at the golf club.
Trump gave a telephone interview to NBC News before leaving for Washington on Saturday. In it, he said that he will sign a record number of executive orders on his first day in office after the swearing-in ceremony on Monday. Although he said that the exact number of orders he will sign has not yet been determined, he said that it will be a record number.
Trump was asked if the number would cross 100. He replied that the number would at least be that high.
Many of the executive orders Trump will sign are expected to undo policies adopted by the outgoing President Joe Biden's administration.
Among the programs Trump has promised to implement from the first day of his new term is a mass deportation program.
Trump told NBC News that the deportation program for illegal immigrants will start very, very quickly.
In the interview with NBC News, Trump also said, "I can't say right now which cities it will be in. Because everything is spreading. And I don't think we want to say that. You'll see it live."
In recent years, the inaugurations of US presidents have taken place on the steps of the US Capitol in front of the National Mall. However, Trump's inauguration will not be held there.
Trump himself announced this information on Friday. He said that the swearing-in ceremony was being moved indoors due to the unusually cold weather forecast for Washington.
