iPhone users now have access to Truecaller’s real-time caller ID feature, a long-awaited addition that was previously exclusive to Android devices. This breakthrough makes Truecaller even more accessible and provides iPhone users with enhanced security and convenience when identifying incoming calls.
The new feature is available for iPhones running on iOS 18 or later.
Enhanced Security with Encrypted Data
Truecaller has developed a dedicated, encrypted database to power this feature. When a call comes in, Apple’s Phone app sends a secure request to Truecaller’s database, which returns the caller’s information in an encrypted format. This ensures that users can safely identify unknown callers without compromising their data.
Truecaller’s Product Director, Nakul Kabra, explained, “Despite using advanced encryption, users might experience minor delays in some requests. However, this delay will never exceed a few hours, ensuring a smooth and reliable experience.”
Built on Apple’s ID Lookup Feature
Apple’s iOS 18 introduced an “ID Lookup” feature that allows third-party apps to access phone number details from external servers. Truecaller has effectively leveraged this technology to integrate its caller ID services with Apple’s ecosystem. This collaboration marks a major milestone, bridging the gap between Android and iOS users.
Revamped Interface and Future Updates
In addition to the caller ID feature, Truecaller has overhauled its app interface for iPhone users. Caller names and numbers now appear in bold text, improving visibility and ease of use. Truecaller is also working on a new feature to display caller photos in the app, further enhancing the user experience.
A Step Toward Convenience and Safety
With spam and fraudulent calls on the rise globally, Truecaller’s expansion to iPhones provides users an additional layer of protection. The app has long been a favorite for identifying unknown callers, blocking spam, and safeguarding users from scams.
This new feature reinforces Truecaller’s commitment to user security and convenience. With its availability on iOS, the app is expected to attract even more users worldwide, making it an indispensable tool for managing phone calls effectively.
The move is particularly significant for Apple users who have long sought robust caller ID options comparable to Android’s offerings. By aligning with iOS 18's technology, Truecaller is expanding its reach and setting a standard for third-party caller ID applications.
