Snowstorms are disrupting public life in the UK. One airport after another is announcing the suspension of flights. There is a risk that road and rail communication will be disrupted due to the snowstorm.
London has been experiencing snow and sleet since Saturday evening. Temperatures have started to drop. The Met Office forecasts heavier snow and sleet in Wales, central, and southern and northern England.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow for large parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and eastern England.
Several airports in the UK have been temporarily closed due to heavy snow overnight. This list includes Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Manchester Airport, Birmingham Airport, and Leeds Bradford Airport.
Not only air travel but also road and rail travel in the country are at risk due to adverse weather conditions. The UK's National Rail Authority has urged travelers to check the latest weather and train information before setting off.
Heavy snow has already disrupted train services in Scotland, northern England, and the Trans-Pennine Express route, with warnings of more than 25cm of ice on motorways in northern England.
Heavy snowfall left many parts of the UK's central, south-west and Wales without power on Sunday morning. Authorities said power connections were expected to be restored by the afternoon.
