Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has declared they will not participate in the upcoming round of political dialogue convened by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. The fourth round of talks between Pakistan's ruling and opposition parties is scheduled for January 28.
Government representative and Senate member Irfan Siddiqui confirmed that PTI had been formally invited to the discussions. However, the party has yet to provide written confirmation of its decision to abstain.
PTI Chairman Gahar Ali Khan reiterated the party's stance, firmly stating to reporters that they would not engage in the talks. "We will not participate in the fourth round of dialogue on January 28," he declared.
The decision follows a controversial backdrop involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, received a seven-year sentence in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case. After the verdict, the government reportedly halted all negotiations with Khan’s party on his directive.
This political impasse raises questions about the feasibility of resolving Pakistan's ongoing challenges through dialogue and cooperation between opposing factions.
