Microsoft Defender Antivirus is built-in to the Windows operating system to protect users from cyber attacks. As a result, users are safe from most cyber attacks even if they do not use antivirus software made by other companies.
However, Microsoft has recently identified a serious security flaw in its own antivirus.
According to Microsoft, a flaw has been found in Microsoft Defender Antivirus. This flaw in the antivirus's global file search posed a risk of confidential information being leaked.
However, the flaw has already been resolved. So Windows users have no reason to worry about this.
Microsoft detailed the flaw in a security note, saying that anyone could easily expose sensitive information on the network by exploiting this flaw in Global File Search. This created an opportunity to send confidential files to others. However, no cyberattacks have been reported so far using this flaw.
