Japan is walking the path of the European Union (EU). Japan is working on legislation similar to the EU's Digital Market Act (DMA) to curb the monopolistic influence of tech giants like Apple and Google. As a result, developers will have the opportunity to publish apps in other app stores beyond Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store.

Nikkei Asia reports that Japan has also drafted new legislation similar to the EU's DMA. The draft, in the form of a policy, will be sent to the country's parliament next year. As a result, users will get the opportunity to download apps from alternative app stores in addition to the App Store and Google Play Store.

When the new law is implemented, if a company violates the principles of this new law, Japan's Fair Trade Commission JFTC can also fine that company. Even manufacturers can choose their preferred transaction method. As a result, Apple or Google will not have to pay any additional fees.

The European Union's DMA has given directives to major technology companies on a number of issues to ensure equality in the digital market. In order to comply with this new law, 19 technology companies including Google, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram are working to make major changes in their policies.

In this direction, it has been asked to allow using the app store of other companies as well as the app store of big technology companies like Apple or Google. It is known that Apple is working to enable iPhone and iPad users to download apps and games of their choice from other companies' app stores.
